Survival and Emergency Foods
When it comes to
survival, there is no getting around the importance of having a quality
supply of readily available food at your disposal. Wars have been fought
and lost over food, and if you plan on riding out any major disasters
or storms, then having a stockpile of survival and emergency foods
should definitely be part of your preparation planning. With all of the
great brands and types of survival foods out there, it can be difficult
sometimes to decide on the right brand or type of survival and emergency
foods for you. Thankfully, there are a few very easy things that you
can keep in mind during your search that will easily help you decide on
the right survival foods.
First, you need to take the time to think about exactly what you think
you'll be needing this food for. This is one of the most abstract parts
of this whole process, and it requires you to be able to think into the
future with a little rationality. Sure, you don't need to get ready for a
"zombie apocalypse" in the near future, but natural disasters and power
outages are much more common and become increasingly more likely as
time goes on. Man made or not, climate change is already causing crazy
weather to show up where it's not supposed to. As the weather knocks
things up another notch, so does your need to have a stockpile of food
ready to weather the storm.
Next, you need to think honestly about the types of foods you actually
like to eat. Sure, you can survive for three months off of canned peas
and horseradish sauce, but could you live off of it? Don't be afraid to
shoot for the stars when you're picking out your survival rations. With
the advances that have been seen recently in modern technology as it
applies to food preservation, there are a lot of great ready made meals
that could last you for a very long time. These meals are set to go, and
all you need to do is add hot water. It's a great way to easily keep
yourself from going insane by eating the same three things over and over
again. Also, they require much less work for you to put together,
saving you in both personal energy and cooking fuel.
While you may not be able to stop natural or man-made disasters from
happening, you can absolutely control the way you react to those
disasters. A large part of making it through a disaster is keeping the
right mental frame of mind through the whole thing-- having a calm,
collected demeanor goes a long way. In a stressful situation, one of the
best ways to keep your morale up is by having a great stockpile of food
to choose from in the event of emergency. It will help you to think
more clearly and make better decisions, making a good stockpile of
survival and emergency foods well worth the effort.
