This system would also make an excellent back-up system in areas with inconsistent services. I've spent time in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Jamaica, volunteering at an orphanage where we just hoped we had power and water every day. To have a backup system (and to be able to add on to it to make it a primary power source) would be excellent.
